**UMBRELLA MAN - SAMPLE**
**Introduction**
*This is a tutorial dialog for a lying mechanic of a narrative driven adventure game. The main character, Don, is an FBI agent with questional moral and methods. In this first scene, he's hooked up to the anual routine polygraph test. For us this is not only a simple way to introduce the LYING mechanics, but also to provide a little background for the character.
To beat the test, the players need to occasionally lie. For that they must successfully absolve a short minigame challenge. Since this is just a tutorial, there won't be major consequences yet, if they fail. In the course of the game, this will change.*

**DON**: Nope.
**LISA**: ...Okay.
[[Continue|ContinueQ2]]SUCCESS!
**DON**: No.
**LISA**: Okay.
[[Continue|ContinueQ2]]FAILED!
**DON**: No, ma'am.
**LISA**: Relax, Don.
**DON**: I *am* relaxed. I'm attached to wires that inconsistently read my mind. I'm relaxed.
**LISA**: And please: Simple Yes or No. No need to ma'am me, all right? It's the polygraph that needs buttering up, not me.
**DON**: Yes, ma'am
**LISA**: Have you ever committed a crime since working for the FBI?
[[No (lie)]]**LISA**: Is your birth name really Donald Fenley?
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: And you live in Washington Street, Manhattan?
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: Are you married?
**DON**: No.
**LISA**: Do you have children?
**DON**: Hell no.
**LISA**: Have you ever consumed any alcohol while on duty?
[[No (Lie)|LieQ3]]TUTORIAL: If you realize that a lying challenge is not going well, you can opt for winning time. This will calm Don down and make the challenge easier. However, you can do this only once per conversation.

[[Fail|FailedQ3]]INT. CLUB NY - NIGHT
Booming music, terribly loud. Don is sitting in a lounge in the *Ferdinant Club*. Fast cuts. He drinks, snorts up a line of cocain.
Two women sit down at the next table. He looks up and checks them out. They look over.
With a last BOOM from the speakers we go to...
[[Continue|DonsFlat01]]INT. DON'S FLAT, BEDROOM - DAY
A Downtown flat, not too big, nothing spectacular, not very lived in yet. Rain patters against the windows. Their blinds are down, so we can't see outside.
Don wakes up, all hangoverish.
**DON**: Shit.
Next to him, still sleeping, face burried deeply in the cushions, lies one of the girls from the club.
**DON**: Shit.
CUT
Don dressed in his flat.

Time to get our shit together and [[look around]], before the girl wakes up. Damn. How late is it?

(Set: $MailsUnread to 2)INT. FBI HEADQUARTERS NY, INTERROGATION ROOM - DAY
FBI-Agent DON is hooked op to a polygraph. We only see him from behind. At the other end of the table, LISA, an older agent, is operating the test.
**LISA**: All right, I'm gonna ask a few easy ones for levels. You know the drill.
**DON**: Sure.
**LISA**: Is your name Donald Fenley?
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: Do people call you Don?
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: Do you live in Downtown Manhattan?
**DON**: I mean, I don't wanna brag...
**LISA**: Simple Yes or No, please.
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: You are thirty three years old?
**DON**: Yes.
**LISA**: Okay, let's get into it ... Have you ever committed a crime, before you started working for the FBI?
**DON**: No.
**LISA**: Have you ever committed a crime, *since* you've started working for the FBI?
(TUTORIAL Don doesn't always want people to know the truth. Try to beat the polygraph test. + Explanation of the minigame challenge)
